Coaching Staff

The Little Dragons coaching team brings together seasoned instructors who share a deep love for the game and for helping players of all ages grow in skill and confidence. Each coach combines technical expertise with a passion for teaching, ensuring every student learns in a fun, encouraging, and structured environment.

From first serves to tournament prep, our staff is dedicated to developing well-rounded players who respect the game, their peers, and themselves.

Larry Johnson – Program Director

Specialties: Footwork, court positioning, strategy
Works with: Beginner to Advanced

Larry has been a multi-sport coach for over 45 years, and loves sharing is passion for the game of pickleball. He works with players of all ages from beginner to 4.0+ and specializes in fundamental mechanics, shot development, and strategy.

Kathy Johnson – Coach

Specialties: Serve/return mechanics, rally consistency, mindset
Works with: Ages 6–14, Beginner to Intermediate

Over 45 years of teaching and coaching experience with kids to kids at heart. My youngest student to coach is 4 my oldest is 84. I love to see people try new things. Pickleball is a sport that anyone can play no matter their age, condition or athletic ability. Don’t be afraid to try.

Private (1:1): 60 minutes
Semi-Private (2–3): 60–90 minutes

How do I choose the right coach?

Match your player’s age and level with the specialties listed above. Still unsure? Email us and we’ll suggest the best fit.

Proper athletic shoes, a water bottle, and a paddle (we can provide a loaner if needed). Arrive 10 minutes early to warm up.

Yes—short skills assessments help us place players in the right group and set goals for the season.

Absolutely. Small groups are great for teamwork, communication, and game-like drills.

Yes! Our staff supports the Traveling Team and can offer event-day coaching when available.

Please provide 48 hours’ notice for private lessons so we can offer the slot to another family.
